LAW HITS LABOR OR CHILDREN

Image
According to the human rights groups, there were as many as 100 million kids working in India. The data exceeds far more than any other country. Most of these kids were from villages who were sent by poor parents and families to cities to earn their living. But in October 2006. a new child labor law was implemented in India. This law forbids children under the age of 14 from working in homes or restaurants. This was necessary because many small children were forced to work in hazardous conditions. Children were excluded from schooling and included in bread earning; which is highly immoral act. The kids faced violence and torture, which is inhuman and brutal. The new law would certainly check these things. So, the law is most welcome. All said and done, I have a confession to make. Sometimes some good things turn out to be a sad experience. The child labor law may or may not be implemented in most of the places but it has been implemented in front of my eyes; and left my eyes moist. Eve

CELEBRATING FARMER'S DAY

Image
December 23rd is KISAN DIWAS. I mean Farmer’s day. I don’t know whether anyone celebrates it or not. I don’t know if most of the people are aware of such a day or not. But I will definitely celebrate this day because I am a FARMER. There is nothing special about me but it feels nice that there is a day dedicated to our community. I am the voice that comes from the fields of India; I am every farmer! When you read the word farmer, the picture that comes to your mind is a dhoti clad muddy uneducated person. To clear this prejudice, I am throwing some light on farmers. This will be my way of celebrating Farmers’ Day. I will start by introducing myself. I am a happy farmer. I am engaged in agrarian business by using land. This is a life way that has been the dominant occupation of human beings since the dawn of civilization. My ancestors were farmers and so farming is in my blood. I grow field crops, have orchards and provide raw materials for industrial purposes. I am also involved in rea

JOURNEY BEYOND LIFE

Image
O My Beloved! Will you walk with me On a journey beyond life? Will you help me After the end to survive? Nothing is permanent So, how can death be? Will you help me explore Beyond what we can see? Will you live with me When I am not alive? Will you help me After the end to survive? We’ll walk on the sky And play with the stars! We’ll paint the clouds And heal moon’s scars! Will you share my soul and Always be by my side? Will you walk with me On a journey beyond life?

WATER OUT THERE...NOT HERE

Image
Water on Mars has made big news. But it hasn’t made the world strugglers any happy. For them, it is the availability of water on earth that matters more than the finding on Mars . In a recent article I read that NASA showed images taken by the Mars Global Surveyor that suggested that water occasionally flows on the surface of Mars. The images did not actually show flowing water. Rather, they showed changes in craters, providing the strongest evidence yet that water coursed through them as recently as a few years ago, and is perhaps doing so even now. Scientists have hypothesized that vast stores of water could still persist beneath the surface of Mars. There is a lot of hype around this news. Many intellectuals of the world are working day and night to find whether there is life on Mars or not. But the question that bothers a common man is that whether we have a Life or not? We are on a constant struggle to survive in this world. I belong to the planet Earth. I am an Indian and if yo

DIVERSITY IN NEW YEAR

Image
“ A New Year’s Day is every man’s birthday .” Charles Lamb was so right when he quoted this. Another year has arrived and we are out of our New Year celebrations. But there is no need to worry as there are a lot more New Year's Day coming. So, get ready to celebrate! As Hal Borland said, “ Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us”. We Indians, celebrate a number of festivals but it is amazing that there are so many new year’s day too that is celebrated in different parts of India on different days. India is a country of great diversity. This diversity can be seen in the celebration of New Year as well. The following are some of the New Years celebrated in different parts of Incredible India: New Year’s Day — the world's most widely celebrated Yew Year’s Day. It was set on January 1 by Julius Caesar because that was the date the Roman consuls took over their duties. Nau Roz - This is Kashmiri New Year

Magar hamne aasmaan ka aamantran taala, Jab apni dharti pe nazar daala! Maana ki upar chand–taaron ki khaan hai Magar…. Neeche hamaari jaan Hindustan hai!!

SITAMARHI

Image
SITAMARHI A FORGOTTEN TERRITORY OR AN EXAMPLE OF GENDER DISCRIMINATION Sitamarhi, the birthplace of Sita, presents a picture of neglect to visitors. Tucked away in underdeveloped , Sitamarhi district, The Janaki Mandir and its surroundings show our insensitivity to cultural heritage. Jawaharlal Nehru said-“Culture is the widening of the mind and of the spirit.” But we have closed our minds towards certain cultural places. As a result, these places remain unknown and undeveloped. One such place is Sitamarhi. Has anyone ever heard the name of a place called Sitamarhi? I am sure very few will nod in yes! Everyone must be knowing a place called Ayodhya! Yes, you are right; Ayodhya is the birthplace of Hindu Lord Rama. Now, let me tell you that Sitamarhi is the birthplace of Hindu goddess Sita who according to Hindu mythology is Lord Rama’s wife. Sitamarhi is a sacred place in Hindu mythology. Its history goes back to Treta Yug. Sita; the wife of Lord Rama sprang to life out of an earthen

HAAR MUJHE SWEEKAAR NAHIN

Main durbal-deen, sangharsh kathin Kintu haar mujhe sweekaar nahin! Chaaron or andhkaar sahi Kintu haar mujhe sweekaar nahin! Dhoondhne se bhi na mile sachchaii Har rishte me swaarth ki parchhaii Jeene yogya sansaar nahi Kintu haar mujhe sweekaar nahin! Ek din aisa aayega Parwat bhi hil jaayega Mere raaste ka har paththar Mitti me mil jaayega Meri jeet ke aasaar nahin Kintu haar mujhe sweekaar nahin! Thokren khaakar gati mand hai Kintu hausle to buland hain Kisi imtahaan se mujhe inkaar nahi Kyonki haar mujhe sweekaar nahin!

I MET LIFE TODAY

Image
I met life today Hiding in a small boy Terrified of death And horrified to live Dancing destiny's toy. I met life today Hiding in a small boy. Bleeding body and broken heart Bruised soul, falling apart Raining eyes, searching something But limbs refuse to start His own body making him annoy. I met life today Hiding in a small boy. Is this a nightmare Or hell has broken here Growing pain in every vein Is just impossible to bear And no strength left to cry. I met life today Hiding in a small boy. A result of nature's revenge Or a man made accident It happens everywhere And innocent people lament Sorrow survives, dreams destroy. I met life today Hiding in a small boy. Resting in my living-room Life seems such a boon But the one inside the boy Will it ever grow and bloom Can’t we give some hope and joy? I met life today Hiding in a small boy.

AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL

Image
I saw an aged childhood Stripped of innocence Running around a vehicle At a Traffic Signal. Under that sun burnt skin Were some burnt dreams Looking like a dried bud Trapped in a vicious circle At a traffic signal. Selling a bunch of lovely Beautiful fresh flowers Forcing herself to smile Everyday I see that girl At a traffic signal. To admire the will to survive To see her performing duties To learn to keep going Life comes to a still At a traffic signal. Light will soon turn green And we all have to go But when will life’s red light Change for that little angel At a traffic signal.

GOD

Image
When heart looses every faith And hope dies a sudden death Do not fear, God is there! When failure repeats itself And no one is there to help Do not fear, God is there! When life misses its aim And death seems certain Do not fear, God is there! When darkness seems to cover And no light source appear Do not fear, God is there! When problems pile before you And you wonder what to do Do not fear, God is there! When end seems near And no solution clear Do not fear, God is here!!!

SEARCH

Image
The storm of your love Stirs me up… And the leaf of my life Leaves its branches! I lose my identity In search of yours! Floating with the clouds In the sky of your remembrance I ask every little bird To take me to horizon Where you keep on twinkling Like an eternal star! But… Soon I fall into the depth of sea In the whirlpool of your memories I ask every little fish To take me to your shell Where you lie as a precious pearl! Thus for many years In all the three worlds I have been searching For my own address Because.. You had once said…. I live in your heart!!

NAME

Image
A few letters like pearls Form jewellery.. And I wear them on my lips! It’s the name of my beloved!!! When Shakespeare had written What’s in a name… I know for sure He was never in love! Thousands of wind chimes Sing in my ears When I call, mention or remember The name of my children!! When Shakespeare had written What’s in a name… I know for sure He never had a complete family! A divine power purifies my heart And I feel heavenly When I chant the name Of my deity!! When Shakespeare had written What’s in a name… I know for sure He was an atheist! If he ever looked down from heaven And saw that….. We remember and read his books Characters and him….. By any other name He would exactly know What’s in a name!!! And he would understand that… A rose is a rose is a rose… Forever!!!

FROM TERRORISM TO ALTRUISM

Image
O Terrorists!!! How can you be humans With such deadly intentions How can any destruction Give someone satisfaction? See the powerful sun His fire can destroy The whole solar system But he chose to nourish And help flourish life Following the altruism. O Terrorists!! You are very powerful Your plans can destroy The whole life system But this is a mistaken way Of power’s expression. There is no good use Of hatred’s powerhouse That generates darkness And spread terror from Generation to generation How can ruining nation Be someone’s destination? O Terrorists! Playing with innocent lives In the name of duty Freedom, caste or religion Growing ill-will and enmity Forgetting love and compassion How can any religion Teach this way to salvation? When will God have mercy And give back your wisdom? When will your beliefs change From Terrorism to altruism!
